Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified individual to fill the Information Technology Specialist position and to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.

This multifaceted role offers a dynamic opportunity to collaborate closely with a seasoned senior systems administrator while independently executing advanced maintenance tasks, troubleshooting computer systems, and peripherals. Your expertise will be instrumental in providing guidance to entry-level client support technicians and ensuring the smooth operation of our client support work-center through efficient ticket management.

Upholding the highest standards of user interaction, you'll play a pivotal role in enforcing protocols for junior technicians and adhering to manufacturer specifications to safeguard equipment integrity. From resolving common access card issues to configuring and securing internal network devices, your technical prowess will be key in sustaining network functionality across various classification levels. Your responsibilities will also extend to maintaining equipment rack space, managing cabling infrastructure, and facilitating hardware and software accountability.

Additionally, you'll oversee the setup and integration of printers, scanners, telephones, and AV display systems, offering technical evaluations and recommendations for continual enhancements. Job Requirements:

Skills / Experience Required

  • Demonstrate a track record of over 5 years of pertinent experience within the DoD environment, showcasing expertise in various facets of PC/server/network support
  • Offer comprehensive support spanning PC/server/network components, encompassing hardware, wireless networking, as well as proficient installation, testing, and operational functionalities of hardware and software
  • Execute Video Teleconference (VTC) System administration duties, including scheduling and configuration, to ensure seamless communication as required
  • Deliver direct client support for network-related issues, ensuring swift resolution and minimal disruption to operations
  • Facilitate account management processes, including creations, modifications, and deletions, with meticulous attention to detail and security protocols
  • Provide multi-level Help Desk support, adeptly troubleshooting hardware and software issues to enhance user experience and productivity
  • Conduct hardware and software system configurations, upgrades, and modifications with precision and efficiency, contributing to optimal system performance
  • Offer tailored configuration and support services for desktops and laptops, aligning with user requirements and organizational standards
  • Maintain the integrity and functionality of network infrastructure, standalone servers, workstations, and Security Monitoring Systems, while meticulously documenting system configurations and activities
  • Employ analytical skills to identify and troubleshoot system anomalies, implementing solutions to optimize system performance and reliability
  • Prepare systems for operational deployment and support operational tests, ensuring readiness and reliability in mission-critical environments
  • Provide ongoing configuration and support services for desktops and laptops, ensuring seamless functionality and user satisfaction

Education / Certifications

  • Bachelor' degree: Arts (BA), Science (BS)
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of education  
  • Security + or equivalent to meet DOD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technology Level II
  • Key Skills/Experience Required for Interview Selection ONLY
  • 5+ years relevant DoD work experience
  • 2 years experience in a special access program and/or secret compartmental information environment with the last five years
  • Bachelor' degree: Arts (BA), Science (BS).Work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Security + or equivalent to meet DOD 8570.01-M

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner and that may include lifting to thirty pounds, as necessary.
