Job Salary: $130,000-$145,000

Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified individual to fill the level three Program Security Officer (PSO) position and to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

As a Program Security Officer (PSO), you play a pivotal role in safeguarding the integrity and confidentiality of our Department of Defense customer's program. With a focus on managing personnel security requirements, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring compliance with stringent security protocols, policies, and regulations.

Your responsibilities extend to serving as a Security Coordinator, where you'll undergo specialized training to expertly manage various security processes. This includes conducting Defense Information System for Security (DISS) verifications, processing access requests, and overseeing background reviews. You'll also be instrumental in managing the in/out processing tasks for contractors, Civil Service, and Military personnel, ensuring seamless adherence to security procedures.

In addition to your core duties, you'll administer security badge issuance and work the door proximity access system, further fortifying our security infrastructure. Your commitment to excellence will shine through as you draft and submit security Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring alignment with Air Force regulations and obtaining necessary approvals.

Job Requirements:

Skills / Experience Required

  • 10+ years of proven practical expertise and relevant DoD work experience in contracts and subcontracts, highlighting hands-on involvement
  • Proficient in Physical Security and Risk Management/Safeguarding of Classified Information, ensuring comprehensive protection against security vulnerabilities throughout development and delivery processes
  • Aids in preparing accreditation packages, including essential physical security documents, for approval by relevant agencies
  • Provides support and guidance in physical, information, personnel, and industrial security domains, ensuring adherence to proven guidelines and procedures
  • Well-versed in the classification management program, aiding program managers in developing classified guidance and decisions
  • Adheres to and proposes modifications to Security Operating Procedures to optimize protection in a dynamic threat environment
  • Assists in implementing and administering the Resource Protection Program, encompassing various security access systems and protocols
  • Supports managers in setting up policies, instructions, and procedures for safeguarding classified information, ensuring compliance and security
  • Provides support for classified VTCs and classified Control Account Custodians, ensuring proper control and security of materials
  • Monitors controlled areas for compliance with physical security requirements, including automated data processing and secure communications equipment
  • Exceptional organizational and presentation abilities, facilitating effective communication
  • Highly adept at independent work, seamlessly collaborating with team members and senior leadership alike, showcasing adaptability and self-sufficiency
  • Possesses strong critical thinking and problem-solving acumen, proactively addressing issues to prevent potential complications
  • Exhibits outstanding written and oral communication skills, displaying leadership capabilities and adeptness in fostering collaborative teamwork

Education / Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Relevant work experience and training may be considered in lieu of a degree, such as Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM)

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner and that may include lifting to thirty pounds, as necessary.
