Position Title: SharePoint Engineer

Work Location: Okinawa, Japan (no relocation provided)

Job Summary

The SharePoint Engineer will provide SharePoint web development and maintenance services for the United States Naval Hospital Okinawa (USNHO).  Also, develop, maintain and enhance websites as instructed by the client.   

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining SharePoint websites
    • Include both the Intranet (internal users only) and Internet (public access) sites. Occasionally the content may be in the Japanese language, but primarily the content will be in the English language
    • These websites will provide information, interactive services and collect information such as surveys
  • Maintain processes for the submission, review and approval of SharePoint development and repair requests on the trouble ticket system
  • Web Parts are one of the basic building blocks of pages on SharePoint sites
  • Provide on-site subject matter expert services for Web Parts functionality for design of SharePoint pages and websites
  • Assist user to customize a SharePoint page to display contact or business data from many sources on the same page
  • Explain use of Web Parts to display information from external sources
  • Aid with technical planning, design, development, testing, implementation, and management of the SharePoint activities, including systems/applications development and technical management of sites
  • Provide recommendation for technical design and structure for presentation within SharePoint or any other approved platform.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve SharePoint technical issues with design and implementation of service
  • Evaluate new SharePoint, internet services and technologies
  • Provide feasible recommendations on the limitations of the IT/Networking environment
  • Ensure application of information security and information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of internet services
  • Assist with compliance efforts with Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA)
  • Effectively resolve user needs by being the professional liaison for the desired SharePoint environment
  • Write, Debug, and maintain SharePoint code as needed
  • Design and develop workflows to assist with routing information
  • Test web-parts and/or tools
  • Create SharePoint user interfaces
  • Assure SharePoint software and systems functionality
  • Update and maintain approximately 100 SharePoint web pages monthly
  • Develop as many as 2 new web sites when required by the Government
  • Meet with the content owners as necessary to understand the information to be included on the web pages
  • Escalate concerns regarding content and design to Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) of Information Technology

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • College degree in Software, Computer Science preferred
  • Extensive experience in the design, implementation and maintenance of websites
  • Knowledge and/or certified in MS SharePoint
  • Familiar with Java, ASP, custom HTML and other current web technologies to develop, maintain and enhance websites as required
  • Working knowledge of building web-based interfaces for database systems with tools such as Visual Interdev, Active Server Pages, HTML, Access, ODB, Oracle and other SQL database servers
  • Prior work within Defense Healthcare agencies and systems
  • Microsoft certifications a plus
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Physical Requirements:

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time.  Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen.  Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner.  May include lifting weight up to thirty (30) pounds as necessary.  

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Secret clearance
