Position Title:  Systems Engineer - Senior

Work Location: Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), Maryland

KaiHonua, LLC has an immediate opening for a Senior Systems Engineer to support Software Engineering Environment(s). The Senior Systems Engineer will support the established team in the design, deployment, and integration of software build automation/continuous integration tools within the environment that facilitates the post-production support of software and the software development lifecycle (SDLC). This includes supporting the current agile software development tools that facilitate continuous integration and continuous delivery of software maintained by developers.  Additionally providing infrastructures services and support, troubleshooting and help desk services while interacting with users (tier 2&3) and applications administration.

The position requires analyzing current technologies and recommending cutting edge solution to fulfill current and future requirements.  In this position the candidate will also participate in, and contribute to the success of the analysis, planning, deployment, test, and integration of novel DevSecOps technologies into the infrastructure such that the mission and goals will remain attainable in a rapidly growing technological environment.

  • Interacts with system users to translate their requirements into systems, hardware, and software requirements and design.
  • Participates in the development of test strategies.
  • Solving engineering problems (or managing the solution of engineering problems) in the functional area to which assigned.

Required Skills and Responsibilities (Not listed in order of importance; other duties may be assigned) and must be able to perform the following with minimal guidance:

  • Computing environment certification w/in 6 months
  • 5+ yr Linux system administration, RHEL/CENTOS 6 or newer
  • Experience with centralized user management on Linux
  • 2+ yr Docker and/or Kubernetes experience
  • 2+ yr Configuration as Code experience (such as Ansible)
  • Exceptional technical troubleshooting skill (applications, services, servers, networking, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal communications skills
  • Effective writing to produce documentation for technicians, and users
  • Experience with the SDLC, to include use of software source control systems, artifact repositories and code assessment tools
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Education / Experience / Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or other Engineering or Technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Must have 5 years of relevant experience within the last 8 years
  • Must possess and maintain Security+ and an IAT-II certification IAW DoD 8570.01-M
  • Must pass a background investigation.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time.  Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen.  Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner.  May include lifting weight up to thirty (30) pounds as necessary.
