Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking an experienced Acquisition Specialist Level 4 – Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the United States Space Force (USSF). This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on mission success and space operations.

In this role, you will support government acquisition efforts by conducting market research, developing acquisition strategies, and assisting with Request for Proposal (RFP) development. You will play a key role in technical evaluations, ensuring proposals meet mission and program requirements.

Your expertise will help guide complex procurements and support long-term strategic goals. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in defense acquisition and procurement processes.

Compensation Minimum: $180,000

Compensation Maximum: $190,000

Job Requirements:

Skills / Experience Required

Acquisition Specialist L4 SME Skills and Experience:

  • Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance
  • 15+ years of hands-on Department of Defense (DoD) experience in contracts and subcontracts, with full lifecycle involvement across all phases of acquisition
  • Recognized for strong analytical skills and a successful track record in complex acquisition environments
  • Deep expertise in Air Force and Space Force acquisition, including strategy development, market research, evaluation criteria, contract requirements, source selection, and cost-schedule-performance integration
  • Well-versed in risk management and the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process
  • Experienced in product development and science & technology programs, with direct support to program offices or similar environments
  • Proven ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with teams and senior leadership
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; trusted leader with experience engaging senior and executive-level defense stakeholders
  • Thorough understanding of U.S. Space Force structure, mission objectives, and stakeholder priorities

Education / Certifications

Acquisition Specialist L4 SME Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required
  • Master’s degree in a related field is required
  • Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification in Program Management or related functional areas (strongly desired)
  • Project Management Professional certification (desired)

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
