Job Location: Riverside, CA

Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified individual to fill the Advanced Database Administrator position and to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in NSWC Corona Division, Norco, CA 92860.

This position's main responsibility is maintaining and supporting the databases in the government facility.  The Database Structured Query Language (SQL) Administrator handles the design, creation, and maintenance of computerized databases. They are also responsible for the quality control and auditing of databases to ensure exact and proper use of data. The administrator manages company databases and supports the information they store. The focus is on data organization and security, making it easy for users with permission to access and use data and integrating advanced security measures to prevent data breaches. Database administrators will also perform regular tests on databases to make sure they function correctly, check for and fix bugs in the system, troubleshoot user issues, merge legacy databases and perform updates to improve efficiency.

Compensation Minimum: $100,000

Compensation Maximum: $115,000

Job Requirements:

Skills / Experience Required

  • Secret Clearance
  • 8 years’ relevant work experience
  • Proficient in database management systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of database design, implementation, optimization, and maintenance
  • Expert in SQL querying, stored procedures, triggers, and other database scripting languages.
  • Experience in performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting database issues
  • Familiarity with database security principles and best practices
  • Ability to design and implement backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Competence in database monitoring and automation tools
  • Strong understanding of data integrity, normalization, and data modeling concepts
  • Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, particularly in coordinating with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to document database architectures, processes, and procedures comprehensively
  • Commitment to staying updated with the latest database technologies and trends
  • Leadership capabilities to mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance
  • Project management skills to effectively manage database-related projects from conception to completion

Education / Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
  • Work experience may be accepted in leu of a degree
  • IAT Level II2 certification/DoD 8570 certifications
  • CAP
    CASP+ CE
    CISM
    CISSP (or Associate)
    GSLC
    CCISO
    HCISPP

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner and that may include lifting to thirty pounds, as necessary.
