Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified individual to fill the level four Acquisition Specialist Subject Matter Expert position and to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.

As an essential member of the U.S. Space Force’s Operational Test and Training Infrastructure (OTTI) organization, you'll play a pivotal role as our Acquisition Specialist. Your mission? To spearhead the development, planning, and management of acquisitions across a spectrum of products and services vital to our nation's space operations.

In this role, you'll be at the forefront of driving success, providing comprehensive support throughout the acquisition lifecycle. From market research to crafting strategic acquisition plans, and from meticulously preparing solicitation documents to ensuring compliance with precision, you'll be instrumental in every step of the process.

Your expertise will be the cornerstone of our success, enabling us to navigate the intricacies of acquisition processes effortlessly. By leveraging your skills, we'll achieve our programmatic goals seamlessly, ensuring the development, fielding, and sustained excellence of OTTI for the U.S. Space Force.

Job Requirements:

Skills / Experience Required

  • 15+ years of proven practical expertise and relevant DoD work experience in contracts and subcontracts, highlighting practical involvement throughout
  • Acknowledged as an industry leader, possessing robust analytical skills and a proven record of accomplishment
  • Showcase exceptional organizational prowess and adept presentation skills, ensuring efficient communication and comprehension of complex information
  • Demonstrate an ability for autonomous work, seamlessly working with team members and senior leadership with minimal supervision
  • Exhibit strong critical thinking abilities and problem-solving acumen, proactively addressing challenges and preempting potential issues
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor team members in acquisition processes and functions to deliver successful products to the customer
  • Employ proactive measures to mitigate problems, showcasing a proactive rather than reactive approach to tasks and challenges
  • Exemplify outstanding written and verbal communication skills, coupled with proven leadership capabilities that foster effective team collaboration
  • Provide comprehensive support in managing acquisition processes from start to conclusion, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless execution
  • Proven ability to conduct thorough market research to inform acquisition strategy development and associated contracting actions
  • Contribute to contract proposal evaluations, using ability to help informed decision-making
  • Facilitate streamlined interdepartmental communications, orchestrating meetings to swiftly address acquisition matters
  • Uphold meticulous standards in generating, reviewing, and maintaining accurate acquisition documentation, adhering to company policies and regulations
  • Exercise sound judgment in interpreting acquisition terms and providing guidance to the customer, stakeholders, and team members to ensure compliance with contractual obligations
  • Ensure prompt review and communication of products and pertinent notices to the to the customer, stakeholders, and team members
  • Demonstrate awareness of U.S. Space Force organizations, understanding their roles and goals in alignment with customers and stakeholders' needs and mission objectives

Education / Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required – in a relevant field
  • Master’s degree is preferred – in a relevant field
  • Relevant work experience or training may be considered in lieu of a degree, per the Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) Crediting Combinations of Education and Experience standard.

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner and that may include lifting to thirty pounds, as necessary.
