Job Title: Mid-level Craft Master

Work Location: Panama City, FL

Introduction:

Rivet Operations Company (“Rivet”) has an opening for a Mid-level Craft Master to join our rapidly growing team in the Panama City, FL area. This position will be in support of Naval Surface Warfare Center – Panama City Division providing preventive maintenance and repair and safe and effective boat operations supporting R&D efforts. Rivet is an exceptional industry partner to the Department of Defense (DoD) and a leader in cyber security, IT management, logistics, supply chain management, process improvement and development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Not listed in order of importance; other duties may be assigned) and must be able to perform the following with minimal guidance:

  • Applicant must be able to perform destructive weather operations with minimum notice to ensure that the craft and boats are protected during gales, storms, hurricanes, and destructive weather.
  • Applicant must be able to support mooring of craft and boats in the boathouse facility, boat storage, or mooring in bay.
  • Candidate must be able to perform preventative maintenance on PSC aluminum hull, mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, or system components.
  • Candidate must be able to be responsible for planning, conducting, and documenting all preventative PSC equipment maintenance in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications whether at sea or in port.
  • Applicant must be able to develop a comprehensive preventative maintenance schedule and provide annual maintenance action recommendations for repair or upgrade. Maintenance will consist of preventative maintenance actions performed on engines in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications, and corrosion control on the boats hull, structures, and electrical components.
  • The candidate must be able to conduct corrective maintenance or repairs on failing or failed PSC hulls i.e. (aluminum, fiberglass, and inflatable(s)), mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems or system components. Repairs may comprise such activities as removal from the craft, dry docking for repairs or maintenance, disassembly of the equipment, inspection to determine cause of failure or level of repair required, replacement or refurbishment of parts, reassembly, tests to ensure proper operation to manufacturer’s specifications, and re-installation onboard the craft.
  • Applicant must be able to conduct side scan sonar operations, oceanographic equipment deployment and recovery, ROV operations, on-station monitoring, guard duty, deployment, and recovery of live or inert mines, test instrumentation and objects as specified. Applicant must be able to follow computer generated track lines while towing sonar’s or other towed systems and shall be required to accurately hold station while subsea equipment is deployed or recovered using the vessel’s crane from its stern.
  • Candidate must be able to provide surface craft support for divers conducting boat repairs and project support by performing such tasks as line-tending divers in the water from the surface, maintaining surface supplied air equipment, and assisting divers into and out of the water.
  • Candidate must be able to ensure boat safety, certification and inspection in the following areas: hull, safety of life at-sea equipment (SOLAS), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) and various firefighting equipment on board the vessel.

Compensation Minimum: $49,000.00

Compensation Maximum: $149,000.00

Education / Experience / Certifications:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in engine troubleshooting and repair, hydraulics and lubrication, power generation and distribution, motors and generators, radar and navigation systems, communications systems, experienced in corrosion control on aluminum hulls, repair/maintenance of instrumentation/test systems and other related craft technologies.
  • Qualified crane operator and be experienced in at-sea rigging
  • Possess the ability to run tracks within +/- 10 meters over 1,000 meter while towing instruments behind the craft, hold station in open water within 10 meters, conduct restricted maneuvering, and precision navigation within Global Positioning System (GPS) accuracy.
  • Experience towing various arrays such as side scan sonar(s) and other test equipment and assets.
  • Candidate shall hold a current United States Coast Guard 100 Ton Master license.
  • Candidate must be trained and maintain currency in; – Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) – Automated External Defibrillator (AED) operation and First Aid.
  • Familiar with various communications (HF, VHF, and Satellite), Generator and
    AC/Heating systems.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other applicable programs.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal communication to effectively express concepts, plans, and proposals.
  • Must be a U.S.
    citizen and obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the position.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening as well as random drug screening during employment.

Physical Requirements:

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen.
Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner.
There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distance may be required.
Possible lifting up to 25 lbs.
