Job Title: Training Support Analyst – Food Service (FS)

Location: Norfolk, VA

Introduction:

Rivet Operations Company (“Rivet”) has an opening for a Training Support Analyst FS to join our rapidly growing team in the Norfolk, Virginia area. This position will support the Military Sealift Command (MSC) providing logistics services and supporting the Continuous Monitoring Program functions. Rivet is an exceptional industry partner to the Department of Defense (DoD) and a leader in physical and cyber security, IT management, logistics, supply chain management, process improvement and development.

Duties:

The performance of this work requires the application of broad knowledge of a wide variety of logistics support activities necessary to support Military Sealift Operations. These include, but are not limited to:

  • To identify all activities that will be involved in providing needed logistical support.
  • Manage Logistics Support Services in support of assessments, assist visits, inspections, afloat or ashore which may be conducted CONUS or OCONUS.
  • Review proposed policy and procedural changes to identify potential impacts on FS training and fleet operations to the government.
  • Provide technical and system training to shipboard FS personnel when deficiencies are discovered during any onboard visit (e.g., SMART inspection/assist visit/training onboard).
  • Communicate with all newly reported Chief Stewards and Steward Cooks (CS/SC) to ensure all required FS guidance/instructions, printed recipes, etc. are onboard.
  • Provide NRA SERVSAFE training and act as SERVSAFE Proctor for exams as required.
  • Assist in the assessment, testing, and implementation of any new FS automation programs used afloat or ashore.
  • Audit monthly FS financial records and provide consolidated reports on the status of individual ships inventory validity, cash deposits, FS budget status, and receipting compliance.
  • Prepare and submit monthly status reports and other deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal communication to effectively express concepts, plans, and proposals.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Initiative-taker requiring minimal supervision.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Minimum six (6) years afloat operational FS experience as a Leading Culinary Specialist E7 or above, USN or USCG personnel, and/or Chief Steward/Steward Cook.
  • Documented experience as FS manager and utilizing an automated Food Service Management (FSM) program onboard ship. The experience must include all aspects of ordering, receiving, inventory management, and reporting requirements for FS operations.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in use of automated information systems/programs associated with FS operations [e.g., FSM, Microsoft (MS) Word and Excel, etc.].
  • Knowledge of the current Subsistence Prime Vendor (SPV) programs for CONUS and overseas ordering procedures.
  • Knowledge of current ordering procedures for Non-SPV items and approved Sources of Supply (SOS) in overseas locations.
  • Demonstrated experience in predicting provisions endurance loading and forecasting resupply quantities for deployments and specific missions.
  • Demonstrated awareness and knowledge to conduct FS equipment validations, provide feedback information, and analysis of equipment status, which is required during the SMART Inspections and Assist Visits.
  • SERVSAFE manager and instructor qualified through the National Restaurant Association (NRA) prior to employment on the contract and must maintain throughout the contract performance period.
  • Ability to attend and pass the MSC FSM ShipCLIP course within six months of employment.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, and Outlook) is preferred.

Security Clearance:

Position requires applicant to be a US Citizen and obtain the required security clearance for the position.

Physical Requirements:

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distance may be required. Lifting to 40 lbs.
