Physical Requirements:

There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distance may be required. Possible lifting up to 50 lbs.

Database Specialist 2
Onsite - NASA -Johnson Space Center Houston Texas
Security Clearance:
Must be a US Citizen eligible for a DoD Secret Clearance.
Job Summary:
Mid level database administration and support of Microsoft SQL infrastructure. Performs daily performance monitoring, configuration changes, and failover cluster support to a wide range of developers and customers in a high-availability environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mid-level database administration and programmer support.
- Applies comprehensive knowledge of concepts, processes, practices, and procedures to technical assignments.
- Conducts all activities related to the administration of computerized databases.
- Projects long-range requirements for database administration and design in conjunction with other managers in the information systems function.
- Designs, creates, and maintains databases in a client/server environment.
- Conducts quality control and auditing of databases in a client/server environment to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data.
- Designs, implements, and maintains complex databases with respect to scripting languages, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods.
- Applies knowledge and experience with database technologies, development methodologies, and front-end (e.g., COGNOS)/back-end programming languages (e.g., SQL).
- Performs database programming and supports systems design,
- maintenance of database dictionaries,
- overall monitoring of standards and procedures,
- file design and storage
- integration of systems through database design.
- Other duties as assigned.
