Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Contract Specialist SME to join our team of dedicated and diverse professionals.

In this critical role, you will provide direct support to the Contracting Officer in the planning, execution, and administration of acquisitions for a broad range of products and services. You will contribute to the success of our contracting operations by ensuring compliance, efficiency, and strategic value throughout the acquisition lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in federal contract management and a demonstrated ability to navigate complex acquisition environments. Success in this role requires strong analytical capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively in a high-tempo, mission-driven setting.

Compensation Minimum: $185,000

Compensation Maximum: $200,000

Job Requirements:

Skills / Experience

Contracts Specialist SME Skills and Experience required:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • 15+ years of relevant Department of Defense (DoD) experience with extensive hands-on expertise in managing contracts and subcontracts
  • 100% on-site, in-office work required
  • Up to 10% travel may be required
  • Demonstrated expertise in comprehensive cradle-to-grave contract support, including conducting in-depth market research, preparing pre- and post-award solicitation documentation, and reviewing proposals to ensure full compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines
  • Proficient in pricing and cost evaluations for DoD proposals, with a strong track record of preparing thorough cost/price analysis documentation, advising on negotiation strategies, and contributing to favorable contract outcomes
  • Proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders to develop acquisition strategies, determine appropriate contract types and methods, and align efforts with organizational objectives
  • Skilled in contract administration, including maintaining accurate and audit-ready contract files and preparing timely contract modifications to support evolving program requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of FAR and DFARS, with extensive experience working with DCAA and DCMA to ensure regulatory compliance throughout the acquisition lifecycle
  • Strong organizational, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex contracting and acquisition concepts to diverse audiences, including senior leadership
  • Adept at working independently while fostering collaboration and innovation across multifunctional teams
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks before they impact program success
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a commitment to excellence, teamwork, and mission success

Education / Certifications

Contracts Specialist SME Education & Certifications required:

  • BS/BA (required)
  • MS/MA (strongly desired)
  • Unlimited Warrant DOD Contracting (strongly desired)

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
